I love the National Basketball Association or the NBA. My favorite team is the Atlanta Hawks and my favorite player is Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers. I try to watch all of the Hawks games and catch the Lakers when they come on locally. Watching professional basketball on TV is fun and most of the time this is how I see NBA games. It’s hard for me to get up the extra money and then travel down to Atlanta to see my Hawks play in person. I do try to do it at least one or two times a year.

If you visit NBA arenas often, you may want to look online for your next tickets. There are some good deals online for basketball tickets. Just for fun, I will check on the Los Angeles Lakers Tickets; when they play on the road at other NBA cities. I’m surprised at how cheap they’re in some cities; compared to what it costs at Staples Arena in Los Angeles. I’m sure other big cities in the NBA have slightly higher ticket prices; than those NBA teams in smaller markets. You can save money though, if you search out some of these deals online. You can even buy New York Knicks Tickets at affordable prices; if you shop online for them.

Basketball isn’t the only thing that has these discounted ticket prices. Other forms of entertainment has cheap tickets online too. The popular Disney on Ice Tickets that are hard to find, can usually be found online. It’s great to find tickets to events that sell out fast and still get them at affordable prices. This is possible for those that have a little time to spend online and seeing which different ticket brokers are offering the best deals. The next time you plan to go to an NBA game or an event that has hard to find tickets, see if you can find them online selling for cheap prices.

Conan O’Brien on NBC & Jay Leno

Jay Leno is NOT must see TV! NBC tried to show Leno’s talents off in prime time and guess what? No one wanted to see it! Why on Earth would they like him better, later on in the night? NBC viewers have decided and they don’t want to see Jay Leno. Not sure what’s so hard for the NBC producers to understand when it comes to the Conan O’Brien vs Jay Leno battle. There really isn’t a battle, because more people want to see Conan than Leno; it’s as simple as that!

Conan O’Brien is a better choice for the Tonight Show than Jay Leno. Why this is even a debate is beyond me. NBC is leaning to replacing Conan for Jay Leno and this will be a big mistake. Advertisers and viewers are both keeping an eye on this one and NBC stands to lose a great deal if they make this move final. No one is going to tune-in to see Leno and the domino-effect will continue with other shows that currently air on NBC. This late night talk show controversy goes much further than the time frame being debated on right now. NBC is leaning the wrong way and if they don’t sway back to Conan O’Brien’s corner soon, it will be too late for them. An all out ban will begin for NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, and their parent company GE (General Electric). No more NBC programs period for those of you supporting Conan O’Brien. We will not buy any more GE products either. I believe Whirlpool is a better brand anyways and other better choices than the products GE produce. If you think the GE stock has been lagging over the last few years, that lag will seem nice, when a lag becomes a decline. If you own GE stock now, you may want to go ahead and sell it. Be sure to get the vote out for Conan O’Brien and for him to remain as the host of the Tonight Show on NBC.

It’s hard to get a gauge on the market with all the “ups” and “downs” we see each day. Many are confident that the stock market is ready for a rebound and now looks like a good time to start preparing for that rebound. It took while for countries willing to donate to the relief efforts in Haiti to begin, but things are finally starting to stabilize a bit in this tiny country. Haiti is about the size of the state of Maryland. It wouldn’t be hard for relief efforts to help this nation, but transportation has been a big concern. The earthquake damaged the main port in Haiti and makes shipping goods, equipment, and men in from the water almost impossible. The airport in Haiti also suffered a lot of damage and it’s been tough for planes to fly in and deliver the aid that is so greatly needed in Haiti right now.

After a few touch-ups to the airport, like adding lights for night time deliveries and take-offs, things are getting better. New ways to deliver things in from the sea has also been set up to help things progress from this direction. The rebuilding and clean-up is still many months away before Haiti can once again get back to any type of normalcy. The good news on Saturday is that certain areas in Haiti, like the airport for instance has an abundance of supplies ready to go for distribution. Several obstacles are still in the way for getting these medical supplies, food, and water to all the parts of Haiti that need it. There is enough people on the ground in Haiti now, to start making that progress happen. More supplies and people are still on the way to Haiti, so the worse should be behind the rescue teams and nations that are currently providing the greatest relief effort that the United States has ever took part in. The 7.0 earthquake that rocked Haiti on Tuesday can now start becoming a memory for the people living in Haiti.

I haven’t seen any movies recently about cards and wondered if I was missing any good poker videos or movies. I have seen the Gambler with Kenny Rogers and that’s a good movie. I would like to see more movies like that or if there is any true stories about poker or poker players. If you’re currently trying to put a website together for the first time, then my hat’s off to ya! It can really be difficult to do and I have been there before. I’m not good with computers, so my first time was a big struggle. I was trying to set up a website for business purposes. Today I don’t bother with trying to create and produce my own websites from scratch. I mostly just create web pages and not an entire website. I do think it’s a good idea to create your own unique website, if you have the skills to do so. Just remember that marketing is a different game and there is a lot of things I have learned over the last 4 years. I continue to learn new stuff and every good marketer will. You can’t rest on what you know and you must be willing to learn new methods and marketing strategies to stay on top of the marketing game.

A first time webmaster will soon learn the struggles to marketing online. If you plan to make money with your new website, make sure you have built a quality one. If you fix up a great website and you’re promoting a quality service or product, you will eventually develop traffic to your new website. Don’t give up and try to do something daily and a first time webmaster can do real well in their first year. Making money online is just like having a real job. It takes daily effort and some days you don’t feel like messing with it. The days you can go that extra mile will be the difference in success or failure for someone that is new to the online game of making money. It seems the color pink isn’t just for the ladies anymore. Over the last decade there is an increase to the number of men and boys that wear pink clothing items. I’m not sure I’m sold on the pink thing for guys. Most are now aware of the breast cancer support you can show by wearing pink. I think that is a good idea and I don’t mind seeing a guy dressed in pink for a worthy cause like this. Breast cancer affects a lot of moms and sisters out there today. Breast cancer is destroying families and we must stop this terrible sickness that affects so many women today. It’s great to see sports teams wearing a pink head band or wrist band to show their support against breast cancer. The men who just wear pink as a fashion statement, I’m not sure I am a fan of that. I just don’t think pink was ever a good color for men or boys and for a male to be wearing pink, it does make them stick out in a crowd. Very few men were wearing pink in the 1980’s. We saw a brief popularity in the 1990’s with men wearing pink clothing items. The numbers increased at the turn of the century and now in 2010 it looks like pink shirts are ok for men to wear.

I don’t think I will run out to buy any pink shirts in the near future. I still see this as a woman’s clothing item and men should not be wearing pink. During the month we set aside for breast cancer awareness, I will accept men wearing pink clothes. I can understand it in those cases, but not for the other 11 months of the year.

I have no problems with women wearing pink. I actually like pink and think it looks good on a woman. Obviously when it comes to Alessandra Ambrosio she would look good wearing anything, but it does seem like pink looks better on her than most people. I know some people are going to say that I’m set in my ways and need to adapt to modern times. I do get use to certain things and I don’t adapt well to changes. I just can’t see why men are actually buying these pink clothing items. Guys on the golf course wearing pink or the guy that ties his sweater in a knot with the sleeves; then wraps it around his neck, I am use to seeing these guys in pink shirts. It’s the preppy, rich look for them. When Homer that runs the local pool tournament at the pool hall starts wearing pink, that is when I need to put the brakes on and wake people up. I don’t think real men wear pink and that’s the way I feel. Some may believe it takes a bigger man to wear pink and if that’s the case; I will remain the little man with no pink shirts in my closet.

If you’re a man wearing pink in support of breast cancer; then you have my support. Alessandra Ambrosio doesn’t wear pink for this cause, but she is a big supporter and a driving force for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Two great causes that need attention and I think it’s great they find that attention in any manner necessary. Let’s just keep the pink clothing items to the ladies and let the men keep their overalls, cowboy hats, and tattoos. I don’t like tattoos on a woman and all men should stay away from pink shirts.

The retailers did pretty good this year and I’m sure Wall Street is happy with some of the numbers coming out. A lot of people spent money this year and this was a year where we saw double digits for the unemployment numbers and this usually isn’t a good sign for investors or retailers during the holidays.

Even though consumers spent money this year, it doesn’t mean they bought high-priced items. There was a lot of bargain shopping taking place. I’m sure many people saw this on Christmas morning when gifts made of diamonds and gold; suddenly turn to gifts of teva flip flops and hair blow dryers. Nothing wrong with these gifts and people will get as much use from these Christmas gifts as they would have gotten from a gold necklace. We may have to put the expensive gifts on lay-away; as we still wait for this struggling economy to fully recover and this may be 3 to 5 years down the road.

How thrifty was your spending this holiday season? I don’t normally spend a lot of money on Christmas, so my shopping patterns were pretty much the same this year; as they have been in previous years. Consider yourself lucky if you got the typical gifts that you normally get for Christmas. I do see a lot of bargains now and consumers will find good deals, if they have any money left to spend.

You can still search online for the easiest ways to discover these bargains. Shopping online is the new way we look for stuff now. It is a lot faster and we don’t have to waste gas driving to the mall or worry about finding a good parking place. Shoppers that are impatient, may not like the 4 to 6 week delivery time, but you don’t have to buy online. Just browse the products online and you can still drive to the store, if you must have that product today. If you find a nice jacket for sale online and fear winter will be over by the time it arrives through the mail; you can just make a bee-line path to the store and buy that cropped denim jacket in person. The truth has finally came out and now Mark McGwire admits to using steroids. He was taking these performance enhancing drugs while him and Sammy Sosa could not miss on a fast ball and knocking it over the wall at some Major League park. I’m sure most of us expected this and many want to know why now? Perhaps it’s to help his chances with the baseball hall of fame or maybe the man just wanted to come clean. Anytime the name Barry Bonds gets brought up, it quickly becomes a steroid conversation and I guess the same was true for Mark McGwire. Maybe he thinks his admission will help him here and that’s the reason McGwire admitted to taking steroids.

Most people still don’t get baseball and if you think Mark McGwire or Barry Bonds is not good baseball players; then think again! Before you throw these two legends under the bus, let’s keep in mind another athlete that drugs has came to the surface and he too is at the top of the sports world. Ever wondered what made Tiger Woods hit the ball so far? Obviously Tiger Woods and his recent accident that showed different types of narcotics in his system is not too far off from the steroid game. It’s only natural to think Tiger Woods took steroids and he is probably laying down the clubs now, because he probably fears a drug investigation on his great golf play. He obviously knows a way to beat the drug tests and how many people are aware of a strict PGA drug test anyways? I’m sure Tiger’s biggest fears right now is for his steroid-use to make public headlines and one person out there could help this to surface. The former Mrs. Woods has to be pretty mad at Tiger and she probably holds a few of the cards when it comes to linking the great Tiger Woods with steroids or other performance enhancing drugs.

After Tiger Wood’s accident, he was clearly on prescription medications. The accident didn’t knock him unconscious. He was in that state from the use of drugs that has been cleverly keep quiet to this point. Stories have emerged of his name being prescribed narcotics, but for some reason the police in Florida did not think Tiger’s drug use was that important. Florida police went a step further and said no evidence of a fight or assault ever took place on the grounds of Tiger Wood’s home. I guess they bought the golf club through the window story too; where Mrs. Woods was using a golf club to break the window and get her cheating Tiger out. Even though photos clearly show that no damage was done to the driver’s side door and if Tiger wasn’t on drugs, he could have simply open the door himself.

Now let’s compare golf with baseball. Golf is a sport where the ball just sits there and golfers give it their best hack. A good aim or stroke is important and then the ability to muster up enough strength to hit the ball. The person that drives the ball the furthest on each swing has the greatest chances to win. In baseball you have a human trying to deceive the hitter with different pitches. Some are off-speed pitches, some are fastballs, some are curve balls, and the list goes on and on on how pitchers try to fool the hitters. Regardless of how strong you are or how fast you are, it still takes a tremendous amount of ability to actually hit the pitch. Steroids can only go so far in helping a Major League baseball player hit for a higher average or hit for more home runs. Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire have talent and these guys were going to hit home runs with or without steroids. Maybe they got more distance on their homers by the use of steroids. Maybe a dozen fly balls a year, that should have been caught on the warning track, flew out of the park due to steroids or other performance enhancing drugs. The bottom-line is that Mark McGwire had talent and his drug use could only help him so much.

That isn’t the case with Tiger Woods. Golf is a much different sport and steroids for a golfer is a lot better; than it would be for a baseball player. I hope no golf fans really think Tiger is a naturally gifted golfer. Tiger Woods has clearly used steroids or performance enhancing drugs to become the star he is today. Now that we have learned about his narcotics-use, there is no telling how far Tiger’s drug dependencies go. Many think Tiger will return to golf later this year. One guy from ESPN said late March. I don’t see where he is getting his information from. I think Tiger Woods has a drug problem and his recent troubles has only caused his drug-use to go up. Don’t be surprised to see Tiger checking into a rehab clinic pretty soon. Actually you should be surprised, because Tiger would never let that become public knowledge. He has managed to keep his steroids under the radar, but I think Mark McGwire being front page news now will help others put 2 & 2 together and we can yell “FOUR” like we never have before. Tiger Woods has cheated the PGA, his fellow golfers, his wife, his fans, and the high dollar sponsors. Even though some sponsors still support his drug use and driving while on drugs. Not to mention the lies and adultery these sponsors support like Nike and others.  Let’s change these Mark McGwire headlines and replace his name with Tiger Woods for the performance enhancing drugs, so we can kill this topic off for good.

Taking a drive through a rich neighborhood or seeing how the other half lives can be fun. I like to see all the fancy houses and those big mansions that sit high on the hill. I often wonder what these people do for a living to have such nice houses. You can take a look at the end of the driveway and see some of these personal, household mailboxes that look more like Commercial Mailboxes you would find in an office park or for a Fortune 500 Company. I think you can tell a lot about a family by looking at their mailbox. No, I don’t mean by stealing their mail, just by looking at the outside of the mailbox!

There isn’t a lot of rich folks in my neighborhood or on my side of town. The people that do have steady jobs and are doing better than most in my area, do have an upscale mailbox. It may not be quite as fancy of some of the ones you can find in the real rich neighborhoods, but it’s an upgrade from your average-looking mailbox. I do see a connection with wealth and the types of mail boxes people choose to put up at the end of their driveways or out in the front yard.

Have you ever seen the mailboxes that are attached to the home? I think this was more common in the past; where people would hang their mailboxes from the home. People living in large cities or close to downtown areas don’t normally have much room to put up their mailboxes and some of these residents still have the mailbox that is attached to the house. The Residential Mailboxes that people do have on an outside wall or nailed to a post on the porch, usually get their mail from postal workers that walk around; instead of driving. In my downtown area I see these men and women that carry their mail bags and deliver their routes on foot. I know these people have to be in shape and they get to walk a lot each day.

Mailboxes come in all shapes and sizes these days. People do have a lot more choices now; when it comes to buying a new mail box. My family hasn’t bought a new mailbox in a long time.
