Big Buzz Over the Weekend

The weekend after Thanksgiving has created a lot of buzz in our world and on the Net. Some major stories are unfolding and people are turning to their computers for all the latest buzz. 3 big stories making the news this weekend is the Black Friday aftermath on all the things consumers bought and the death that occurred at a Wal Mart in New York; when a customer got stampeded to death. It sad to see anyone die during the holidays and it doesn’t make it any less tragic when that person dies from shopping. Black Friday is meant to be a great day for shoppers and no one should be losing their life for wanting to find the best bargains.

The death toll in India continues to rise from the terrorists attacks that happened last week. The image of the Taj Motel on fire will be something people all over the world remember for a long time. The tragic events in India are being compared to the September 11th attacks on America and India may have a whole new outlook on terrorism now. It’s going to take a long time for India and their citizens to recover from these awful events and hopefully they get a lot of support from other nations as they try to pick up the pieces from these terrorist acts in India.

The 3rd big story this past weekend is the BCS standings and what teams won with the latest rankings. It would seem that the Oklahoma Sooners got the biggest help from the most recent BCS rankings and they managed to leap frog over the Texas Longhorns, even though Texas won big this past weekend. The BCS has been a broken system for a long time and now the Texas Longhorns get a dose of just how messed up the system is. I’m not sure either team has a right to complain more about their ranking than the Florida Gators and their 1 loss on the season was by only 1 point. So if you take margin of loss into consideration, Florida should be ranked number 2 in the country.

3 big stories and I’m sure we haven’t heard the last of it yet. Cyber Monday is now taking place online as people leave the shopping malls and head to their computers for the best online deals. The events in India are long from being fixed and they help now. The BCS rankings are causing controversy as usual and if they think people talking about college football because of it, is a good thing, they are sorely mistaken. College football may just start to see declines as more and more people across the country call for a play off system to be installed.
