Online Advertising in Philadelphia

A Philadelphia SEM Company is a great way to gain exposure for those businesses operating in Philly. A tremendous amount of growth around Philadelphia and the surrounding areas has led to a lot more businesses popping up. It can be a little difficult separating your company from another Philly company that is doing business in the same industry as you. One of the ways to get the upper hand on the competition is by advertising and promoting online.

It really isn’t that expensive to advertise online. Creating a website or a blog and driving traffic to it is really the only thing you need. The goal is to have your website in the search engines, so a resident in Philadelphia can find your company online. Finding cheap and cost-effective ways is the trick. No one wants to over pay, but they do want to get the most for their money. A Philadelphia Pay Per Click Management campaign can be a great way to gain online exposure; while investing very little money doing it. Advertising like this provides quality traffic to websites and quality traffic will equal real customers. You’re only paying for the clicks that do land on your website. These clicks are controlled, so they can insure that the person clicking online has a sincere desire to visit your website online. Advertising with Philadelphia Adwords or other similar pay per click advertising, will get your business listed higher (in the search engines) than other companies doing business out of Philly.

Don’t forget to use the social media websites either. A website like Facebook is a great website to have on your side. Facebook fans are constantly delivering traffic to business related websites and your business can tap into this market as well. No fees at Facebook and it’s a free website online that has grown in popularity. Your small business in Philly can use a website like Facebook to help find more customers online. Any company seeking to get the upper hand in the Philadelphia market, should turn to the World Wide Web for help.

First Time Webmasters

If you’re currently trying to put a website together for the first time, then my hat’s off to ya! It can really be difficult to do and I have been there before. I’m not good with computers, so my first time was a big struggle. I was trying to set up a website for business purposes. I signed up as an affiliate to one of the big satellite companies and was going to promote their satellite dishes, to those that were looking for satellite TV. I did get my website set-up eventually. It wasn’t easy and I must have gave up at least 50 times before I finally got things right. After all that hard work, I never did make any money from it. I did learn how to market online and today I could do much better if I was an affiliate for them now.

Marketing online is a lot different from just being a webmaster online. You can be the best webmaster in the world and create one of the greatest websites the Net has ever seen, but if you don’t know how to market online, then no one will ever see your masterpiece. Today I don’t bother with trying to create and produce my own websites from scratch. I mostly just create web pages and not an entire website. I do think it’s a good idea to create your own unique website, if you have the skills to do so. Just remember that marketing is a different game and there is a lot of things I have learned over the last 4 years. I continue to learn new stuff and every good marketer will. You can’t rest on what you know and you must be willing to learn new methods and marketing strategies to stay on top of the marketing game.

A first time webmaster will soon learn the struggles to marketing online. If you plan to make money with your new website, make sure you have built a quality one. If you fix up a great website and you’re promoting a quality service or product, you will eventually develop traffic to your new website. Don’t give up and try to do something daily and a first time webmaster can do real well in their first year. Making money online is just like having a real job. It takes daily effort and some days you don’t feel like messing with it. The days you can go that extra mile will be the difference in success or failure for someone that is new to the online game of making money. If you can quickly and easily put together a brand new website from scratch, you’re ahead of the game and I am jealous of you. The World Wide Web is big enough for all of us to succeed and there’s no reasons that exist today, why a first time webmaster can’t make money in their first year. Good luck and be sure to ask for marketing advice, if you need help promoting your new website.

Links Do Magic for Webmasters

The popularity of a website can be determined by many things. The amount of daily traffic it receives or the scores it receives from a Google Ranking or Alexa Ranking. One of the best and easiest ways to help your website is with links. There are no SEO tricks or tips when it comes to links. There is actually a good way of looking at it, so you’re getting the most out of your incoming links.

Just think of your website as a lake. Try to imagine all the links pointed toward your website and the links you have on your website as streams and rivers. The key or goal for any webmaster is to have the most water possible. The more water you have in a lake, the bigger and more popular it becomes. Your website works the same way and you want all the water you can get. Each time a link is placed on another website and this link leads directly to your website, then this is a stream or river of water coming in. When you place a link on your website for someone’s else’s website; then you’re creating an exit river or stream from your lake. Since we want the most water possible, it isn’t a good idea to be adding other people’s links to your own website. It works much better when we have more links coming in to our sites; than we have pointed away.

Trading or swapping links is just like treading in water or being stuck in the mud. You don’t gain nothing when you swap links 1 for 1. If you have a 2nd website; then you can work some link magic by swapping links with another webmaster. Just ask them to place a link on their website that points toward your main website and use your secondary website to return the favor. This way you can start creating more rivers and streams of traffic to your website. The search engines want to see what everyone’s website is pointing toward and when a bot from a search engine sees lots of links pointing to one website, they know this website must have some good information on it. This will cause your website to appear higher in the search engine listings and this will create a whole new stream of traffic flowing in to your website. Links can work like magic; if you know how to use them properly. Make sure you’re getting the most out of your linking opportunities and links are the number 1 way to increase traffic and PR numbers that Google provides!

Favorite Celebrity Blog or Blog in General

Alyssa Milano BlogDo you have a favorite celebrity, athlete, or star you like to keep tabs on? Most famous people have blogs these days and someone like Alyssa Milano(Who’s the Boss and Charmed) has a blog online. Alyssa Milano actually has her own website that has a lot of good information on it and she has a Major League Baseball blog too. She is a big fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and she shows her support through her MLB blog. I am currently taking nominations for the best blogs and wanted to see which blogs people are reading these days.

How Fast is Your Internet?

You can do an online check to see how fast your internet speed is. If you’re not sure what speed your internet travels; then take this free easy test to see how fast you are.

Test Internet Speed Here

This is a great little tool to see if you are running at top speed or if you have something that might be slowing you down a bit. You can test dial up connections or your DSL or cable services. If you already know what speed you have with your internet service provider; then you will be able to compare the speed they are charging you for and what speed you actually have. If your speed is slower than its suppose to be, you could have a trojan, malware, spyware, or something like that on your computer that’s slowing you down.

I often do searches online trying to find the tools that will remove any spyware or viruses from your computer. I like to run at least one scan a day and sometimes more to keep my computer free of the harmful viruses and files that get download to your computer; while surfing the Net.

My computer ran at a speed of 327 point something and this was calculated at Kbps. I ran the test a 2nd time and it came up at 328 kbps. It appears I gained a little speed on the 2nd test. You may want to test your computer twice and see if you get two different speeds too.

Improve your communication with CB Radios

communicationI was recently at a conference where the vendor in charge of transportation and logistics had lapel and hand held cb radios that they used to be able to communicate across the two hotels that were hosting the conference. I bring this up because in the age of cell phones and instant messaging the cb radio is something that you would think has gone by the way side. There are still thousands of companies that rely on this instant form of communication and with the FCC freeing up some of the lower end band width to this has increased the call quality of many of the devices that are now being developed.
We recently had the chance to take a look at one vendor online that helps individuals and companies find the right cb radios for the job. At Rightchannelradios.com they offer major brands like Uniden, Cobra, Galaxy, Wilson, Midland, Firestik, K40, and Monkey Made. They also offer cb radio repair and antenna options that you can view and purchase directly from their secure store. They pride themselves on their customer service and 120% customer satisfaction guarantee. They offer fast shipping so if you are in a bind and new job is getting under way and you need the equipment fast you will be able to get it in time. This can help your bottom line since you are able to start the job on time and see the revenue from your project sooner rather than later. So look to improve your communication so that when you are on a job site or need to create a fast response team think cb radios from vendors like RightChannelradios.com.

Content is King

The best thing for webmasters to do with their sites these days is to make sure they have plenty of good, quality content on their pages. Sometimes it’s hard to see what a website is offering and can be difficult to navigate around. A website should be easy to use for everyone visiting it and the main objective for the website should be clearly written out on the homepage and easy to see for all users.

Content is king and that’s the most important thing. Adding good content that is fresh and gives people valuable information is the key with your content. A website with good content is going to succeed online. It may take time for people to notice or the buzz to generate, but good content will lead to results. Some webmasters get tons of daily traffic, but they don’t keep their visitors due to a lack of information or poorly written content. Keep good content on your website for everyone to plainly see and this will lead to improved results. Visitors will return to a website when they see good content is available for them to use in some way. All webmasters need to tweak the content and make it as good as possible, before they start trying to drive traffic to a website with poor content.

Your Blog is Your Garden

Every blogger online today needs to look at their blog like a garden. In order for a garden to bear fruit and vegetables a lot of time and effort has to go in first. A good gardener will plow up the ground really good and add just a touch of fertilizer to get everything right for sowing seeds. Once the seeds are planted, you still need to weed and water it, so the seeds will have the best chance for growing strong and big. This is the approach every blogger should have with their blogs and they could learn a few things from a gardener.

Creating your blog is much like plowing up the ground. You want to design your blog as nice as possible and create a main theme or a niche for your blog. Once you know the main subject of the topic you will be blogging about, be sure to add about 4 to 8 categories that closely relate to the main theme of the blog. It would be wise to add a little fertilizer to your blog and I would suggest installing a RSS feed in the HTML section of your blog. The RSS Feed will help deliver new posts and comments to the search engines and anyone who might be subscribed to your RSS feed. After you have came up with a good niche for your blog, added in your categories, and installed the RSS feed, you will be ready for planting seeds.

Planting the seeds for your blog is all the posts you will be writing to it. You want to make good quality posts and the majority of them should relate to your main theme or categories you have selected for your blog.  Try to write up posts that are between 300 to 800 words. This is the idea amount for any blog posts and it’s ok if you write less or more every now and then. Just try to target that many words in the majority of your blog posts. Also, try to avoid putting links in your blog posts. I know sometimes it’s helpful to add links for reference or you want to show your readers something, but avoid adding links when possible. All new blogs should really stay away from links, until you have at least a dozen or more good quality posts that don’t contain any links. Anytime you do write up a post and include a link in it, be sure to make your next blog post without any links. The search engines will get confused if they see too many links coming from your blog and think your blog is just a stopping point to where the real information is located. If you write up a lot of posts with no links in them; then the search engines start recognizing your blog as a source of information and this is good!

When you first start out blogging your not going to see your blog in the search engines or see any of your posts getting indexed by search engine bots. It’s just like a gardener planting his seeds and he’s not going to come back 2 or 3 days later and see food growing on the vines and stalks from the seeds he just planted. It takes time for seeds to grow and it will take time for your blog to grow. You can do things to help it grow faster, but the main thing is quality posts and fresh content. If you take your time and make every post a quality one and will blog at least 3 days a week; then your blog will start producing food or links in the major search engines. No need to worry about driving tons of traffic to your new blog now or trying to acquire links pointing toward your blog. These are things you can work on later, after you have 20 to 30 real good posts published on your blog.

Now is the spring time of the year for bloggers or anyone creating a new blog. If you don’t put the time and effort in now; you won’t have anything to harvest this fall. So start your plowing, keep the weeds pulled at all times, and continue planting those seeds until you see something start to grow. When the growing process starts, just continue to water your blog and it will continue to grow and grow.

A Background Check for Kid Safety

A Background Check is something everyone can do and for so many different purposes. I think our kids are the things most valuable to us and all parents want to do whatever it takes to protect them. Doing a simple background check from your computer is a good way to keep an eye on them. You don’t actually do a background check on your child, but you do it to the people you trust with your kids each day. We can’t be with our children 24 hours a day, so a background check is another tool parents can use for parental supervision. How well do you know the basketball or soccer coach? Do you know anything about the teachers that you rely on for your kid’s safety and to learn from? If you use a babysitter from the neighborhood or found them from an ad online or in a newspaper; how well do you know them? A background check or a basic people search will be helpful for parents that are seeking trust from other adults. It isn’t hard to run a background check on someone and I hope your child’s safety will benefit from a background check.

Parents or even employers can learn some valuable information about a background check. A public record is kept on everyone and this is information that anyone can access. You can do a criminal search and find criminal records on people that have committed crimes in the past. You can determine if those crimes are severe enough to make a decision on a sport’s coach, babysitter, or for that next employee you’re looking to hire. You can do a people search anonymously with the services from BeenVerified and a basic people search is less than 2 dollars. You can obtain all sorts of information like address history, if they are on a terrorist watch list, sex offender, birthday (for age verification), marriages, maiden names, previous crime records, and other things that would be helpful in learning about someone new. I hope all parents take steps to protect their children and a background check is a good way to provide kid safety.

History of the Internet

We all use the internet and daily in some cases but do we know how we got here? Here is a great animated video that shows the history of the internet and you can see how everything started in 1957 and where we are at in 2009.

History of the Internet

YouTube Preview Image

Did you learn anything new? Did you already know this?

I didn’t know the full history of the internet and I’m glad I ran across this video. I think more internet users would find it interesting to see how the internet evolved over the years. Most of us didn’t have access until recently, but the internet concept was launched long before we had any knowledge of this technology or was even using personal computers in our home. I know in the Bill Gates movie, some people laughed at the idea of a computer in every household in America and I don’t think those people are laughing much these days. A computer in the home today without an internet connection may be taking up space, but any computer that can bring you in touch with the World Wide Web is a must for everyone these days. I couldn’t imagine getting by without the internet today and I look forward to seeing it advance in the years to come.

Keywords to Select

Once you have your website built and ready to show the world online, you have to choose your keywords wisely for the best results. The keywords are the words that relate to your website the most and this is how people will find your new website. When people search for things through search engines they type in the keywords or search terms they expect to find what they’re looking for. A meta tag in the HTML section of a website will determine what keywords the search engines use to lead people to your website. Search engines use bots or robots to crawl the Web frequently, so they are indexing the best websites possible for various searches.

You can use free keyword tools that help you come up with a list of words that will relate to your website the most and which ones are the most popular ones. You want some popular keywords in your meta tag, because they will drive the most traffic to your website, but they are also the ones other webmasters will be using that has websites matching your topics. So choose some popular ones, but also add ones that are related, but other webmasters are not using as much. There seems to be a debate on the number of keywords people select for their websites. You want to choose a lot, but at the same time don’t go overboard and select keywords that don’t match the content of your website. Just because widgets may be a popular word people use in searches, don’t add that to your keyword selection, unless your website deals with widgets. Make sure to search for popular keywords that relate directly with the information on your website and don’t use keywords that don’t match up. Feel free to go back and delete certain keywords and add new ones, as you try to tweak your website, so it’s as search engine friendly as possible. Keywords are the fun part of building a website, just make sure you don’t hurt your website’s visibility by selecting too many keywords that don’t relate to the content of your website.

The Meta Tags

Inserting a meta tag to your website is very important. This is what tells the search engine robots about your website and how it should be indexed in the search engines. You have the choice to write a short and descriptive sentence about your website. This will be what people see when they search for your website in the search engines. So every website should have a meta tag inserted in the HTML of it.

You can find a number of places online to create your own meta tag. Just do a search for “meta tag generator” and you will have lots of choices. Be sure to use plenty of keywords in your meta tag, so you will increase the chances of your website being found in the search engines. You want to make sure your keywords are related to the theme of your website and just not keywords that you want for search engine rankings. Your website could be missing out on thousands of new visitors if you don’t have a meta tag properly installed in the HTML of your website. A good meta tag can make a website look better than it may really be, so get your meta tag created and installed today!
