Caught on Tape: Fabulous High School Dunks

I like browsing through You Tube and other places where average folks like you and I can upload videos. Some of the user generated media is very good and deserves a little pat on the back for putting it together. This YouTube user compiled some great high school basketball dunks and referred to it as the “Top 10 High School Dunks of All Time“. I was curious to watch this video, because I was filming a high school basketball game one day and was lucky enough to get a good dunk on tape. The guy in my video went on to win ACC Defensive Player of the Year. A lot of good players in the Atlantic Coast Conference, so you can imagine the talent this kid has. I wouldn’t feel comfortable posting his dunk on You Tube or MySpace without his consent, so I can show the slam dunk I captured on film.

I will be honest. I was expecting to see zero dunks better than the one I got on tape. However, this guy did a great job and compiled some awesome high school dunks. Even LeBron James makes an appearance as he skies to the rim, ball between the legs, and dunking on the other side of the rim. He threw it down pretty hard too. Nothing weak or anything that could be considered a lay up. I would put LeBron’s dunk and a few more ahead of the high school slam dunk I video taped. I do think there were a few dunks that my video would beat and it is top 10 worthy.

What did you think? I never knew so many backboards got shattered in high school ball. This was a great high school video to watch. Anyone that likes basketball and loves the dunks. You have to admit these dunks are as good as the ones we see in the NBA today. In some cases, you don’t even see these dunks happening in the NBA. It’s almost like a once in a lifetime dunk; where some great high school athlete was there to capitalize on it. You can keep your skills, I would rather have luck on my side any day and a lot of these high school kids got their lucky day caught on tape. I wouldn’t call this LeBron’s lucky day. That would have to be his signature on the first NBA contract he signed to play professional basketball.
