Goldfish Funerals in the Bathroom
Who ever thought to flush the dead goldfish down the toilet was pretty smart. I never did do that when I was younger. I think my goldfish would usually live 1 week or less and I would throw them in the garbage or outside for the dogs to eat. I see a lot of parents would take the goldfish to the bathroom and tell the kids they are flushing the poor thing back out to sea.
Now as time went on, those flushes in the bathroom got more elaborate. Parents, kids, or both would have funerals in the bathroom. A tiny casket for the gold fish was prepared. The fish would lie in this small casket; while a few nice words or memories would get spoken about the dead family pet. After that, everyone would say their good byes and it was a flop in the toilet bowl, for the last splash. Then the final part of the ceremony has to be performed by the little ones in the house, when it comes to pulling down the lever and watching the fish swirl around in the bowl, before going down the hole, which leads to the sea.
Record for keeping a goldfish alive?
Do you have any stories of long life or heard of any? I really don’t think I ever made it past one week with the gold fish I use to own. I believe I would feed my fish too much food and this would dilute the water in the fish bowl and eventually cause too much pollution in the H2O for the poor little fish to survive in. I’m sure you got your fish past one week before. Did you ever keep your pet fish alive for 2 weeks? 1 month? 3 months or longer? I don’t believe I ever heard of any stories going past 3 months or a calendar season, for keeping a goldfish pet alive. I know it’s always tough on the kids to see the goldfish floating in the bowl one morning. If your child does take a goldfish death too bad, don’t forget to try the bathroom funeral for goldfish. This can help to ease the tension and stress the death has caused to the child. Maybe you have a sardine box or could construct the casket out of the cardboard inside a roll of toilet paper.
