It seems the color pink isn’t just for the ladies anymore. Over the last decade there is an increase to the number of men and boys that wear pink clothing items. I’m not sure I’m sold on the pink thing for guys. Most are now aware of the breast cancer support you can show by wearing pink. I think that is a good idea and I don’t mind seeing a guy dressed in pink for a worthy cause like this. Breast cancer affects a lot of moms and sisters out there today. Breast cancer is destroying families and we must stop this terrible sickness that affects so many women today. It’s great to see sports teams wearing a pink head band or wrist band to show their support against breast cancer. The men who just wear pink as a fashion statement, I’m not sure I am a fan of that. I just don’t think pink was ever a good color for men or boys and for a male to be wearing pink, it does make them stick out in a crowd. Very few men were wearing pink in the 1980′s. We saw a brief popularity in the 1990′s with men wearing pink clothing items. The numbers increased at the turn of the century and now in 2010 it looks like pink shirts are ok for men to wear.

I don’t think I will run out to buy any pink shirts in the near future. I still see this as a woman’s clothing item and men should not be wearing pink. During the month we set aside for breast cancer awareness, I will accept men wearing pink clothes. I can understand it in those cases, but not for the other 11 months of the year.

I have no problems with women wearing pink. I actually like pink and think it looks good on a woman. Obviously when it comes to Alessandra Ambrosio she would look good wearing anything, but it does seem like pink looks better on her than most people. I know some people are going to say that I’m set in my ways and need to adapt to modern times. I do get use to certain things and I don’t adapt well to changes. I just can’t see why men are actually buying these pink clothing items. Guys on the golf course wearing pink or the guy that ties his sweater in a knot with the sleeves; then wraps it around his neck, I am use to seeing these guys in pink shirts. It’s the preppy, rich look for them. When Homer that runs the local pool tournament at the pool hall starts wearing pink, that is when I need to put the brakes on and wake people up. I don’t think real men wear pink and that’s the way I feel. Some may believe it takes a bigger man to wear pink and if that’s the case; I will remain the little man with no pink shirts in my closet.

If you’re a man wearing pink in support of breast cancer; then you have my support. Alessandra Ambrosio doesn’t wear pink for this cause, but she is a big supporter and a driving force for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Two great causes that need attention and I think it’s great they find that attention in any manner necessary. Let’s just keep the pink clothing items to the ladies and let the men keep their overalls, cowboy hats, and tattoos. I don’t like tattoos on a woman and all men should stay away from pink shirts.
