The National Basketball Association or NBA is adding something new to the All Star festivities this year. They will be trying a backyard basketball contest that people do in their backyards and driveways all the time. The game is called Horse and one person shoots the basketball from any place they want and if it goes in, the next person must make that same exact shot. If they fail to make the shot, they are given a letter (h) and the game continues. If you miss a 2nd time, you get a new letter (o) and this continues until a person has spelled horse. If you’re the person that spells horse, you are out of the game. You don’t get a letter if you miss a shot of your own choosing. Only the people that have to follow up a shot get a letter if they miss and if they make it, the game continues to the next person and if it gets back to the original shooter, he or she may select a new shot to take.

I think the NBA is on the right path and trying to make All Star Weekend in the NBA better. They really need to do something about the dunk contest and fix it. The game’s best dunkers are not even in the Dunk Contest and that is a big problem right there. Fans talk years and years after a certain dunk or dunker and lately we don’t have those memories to fall back on, because the best dunkers are not in the dunk contest.
