The people that are disabled or handicapped have many disadvantages in the world. It’s hard for someone who isn’t disabled to recognize all of these disadvantages. We generally have to lose something in life before we are aware of just how valuable it was to us. I can’t even imagine going through a day without my sight, hearing, or the ability to speak. We take a lot of these things for granted sometime and most of us never will know just how grateful, we should be for the ability to touch or to get up and walk somewhere.

People that can’t walk or get around good on their own need a lot of help. Luckily a company like Mobility Works has recognized the need for mobility and they produce a lot of needed tech gadgets. The handicap van conversion is a brilliant design that allows the disabled to travel the roadways when needed. People can only rely on other people to do so much and the handicap need to make trips too. Visiting a doctor, shopping at the grocery store, or signing a check and showing ID is daily tasks that we all have to do and this includes the disabled too. These wheelchair lifts and other advances in technology have made it possible for anyone to take care of their daily errands now. People who are handicap or facing some other type of disability can get their vehicles equipped with lifts and start feeling like they are part of the world again.

I have seen people who can’t walk and watch them drive to the movie theaters all the time. They usually have a platform wheelchair lift that is big enough on a van to take their whole wheelchair up and makes accessing the van possible. These people usually can leave the driver’s seat and work their way to the wheelchair in back of the van. Once they are secured on the platform, the mechanics on the lift take them slowly to the ground, where they can roll off and then let the lift contract back into the van, so they can lock it up. Once returning to the van, it’s a simple process of opening the door and lowering the platform down and rolling the wheelchair back upon the platform again. Once they are in place, they let the power of the lift take them back up and into the van. I’m sure this is an aggarvating process, but thanks to technology, there is a way for the disabled to be able again!
