Truly World Sports Specials This Week

Well there is a popular country song that has a line about it being too hot to fish and too hot for golf. The end of June and the first of July is proving the song’s point right now. Just to mow the lawn or walk around the house outside is really too much energy to spend, if anyone is currently having the heat wave we in North Georgia are having. The only thing that’s reasonable to do right now; is to turn on the A/C (air conditioner) and grab the R/C (remote control) and see what’s on the S/D (satellite dish). Unless you have C/T (cable television); then I guess you will be flipping the channels and trying to find a few interesting cable specials to watch indoors and away from the summer time heat.

On our satellite channels this week, we have had a king’s feast of sports to watch all week long and it will continue into the weekend for many of the sporting events. One king that has had plenty of Cable and Satellite Dish specials on him already and we will probably see more; is the king living in Ohio. You have probably been living on another planet, if you didn’t know Lebron “King” James was a free agent in the NBA or National Basketball Association.

In a week filled with big sporting events, like the World Cup Soccer (or Football for the rest of the World) going on in South Africa. Then just across the Pond we have our friends over in England holding their little tennis special known as Wimbledon. Even the most popular golfer in the World (Tiger Woods) and the most popular NASCAR driver in the World (Dale Earnhardt Jr.) have been in the sports news this week. Tiger for his very average golf game right now and Little E in NASCAR drove an exact replica of his late father’s (Dale Earnhardt Sr.) very first car on the pro racing circuit.

I guess even if the weather was pleasant outside, we would still be in the living room with our feet propped up, to see all of these great sport specials we have going on this week. Since the USA is out of the World Cup and hasn’t won much in the Wimbledon tennis tournament, the main story for us is Lebron James. Which NBA team will land his services for the 2010/2011 basketball season? For the residents living in the United Kingdom, it’s a safe guess to say the British are focused on the grass courts in their country. The biggest television special for all of the other nations, would have to be the World Cup.

So yes, this is paradise for all of you sports nuts like me. I still haven’t even mention the fact that the NHL or National Hockey League began their free agency too and we get to find out tomorrow who the American League and National League starters will be; in the baseball All Star Game on July 13th. You can check with your local cable or satellite provider to see what time on Sunday, you will be able to watch the baseball TV special on TNT or TBS? This show scheduled for a noon time start on the East Coast, will reveal which 8 position players will be starting in the Mid-Summer Classic in about 10 days from now.

Be sure to leave me a reply and let me know which sports special or specials; you plan to watch this weekend. It may be too hot to play golf, but we can watch it for hours and hours. Enjoy the programming everyone and have a safe holiday weekend!
