Water on Mars?
It is still unclear if there is water on the planet closest to the Earth. NASA has sent the Phoenix Mars Lander to Mars to try and find if water does exist on the planet. Through the data collected from the Lander, some scientists believe it is enough proof that water did exist on Mars at one time. They don’t sound over convince, but something is coming back as a positive sign that water is or was on the planet at one time.
It is important to NASA officials to determine if water is on the Red Planet and this could signal some type of life form. All life forms need water to grow or survive in, so finding water on Mars is the first step to determining if there is life on Mars. It would be big news if we can say for sure that water is on the planet Mars and this could open up all kinds of possibilities. You never know where the next miracle drug or cure might come from in the medical world and perhaps Mars has something to offer Earth in terms of a medical advancement.
The Phoenix Lander on Mars has been there almost a year now. It touched down on May 25th of 2008. There is a scheduled event that will take place about the findings from the Lander and this will be held on March 23rd of this year. There should be some excitement in the room when the findings are revealed and how scientists interpret these findings and data collected by the Phoenix Mars Lander. It is amazing how man can send a data collecting device like the Lander to another planet in our solar system.
